What Is Telehealth? Will It Work For Me?

Find out why Telehealth Physical Therapy might be the right choice for you! What is it?

Simply put, Telehealth is a way to receive health care through electronic telecommunications (i.e. video chat). This allows you the opportunity to receive healthcare when you’re at home, at work, or on the go!

Telehealth has been around for a while, but has really become popular during these pandemic days we find ourselves in. Think about the last year… Have you video chatted with a friend, family member, or loved one since this pandemic started? Well, now imagine doing that same thing, but with your physical therapist! It’s as simple as that.

Why telehealth?

Do you love making an appointment, taking time away from your life/family/work to drive to and from a PT clinic? Do you like having to drive to you physical therapy appointment when the weather is bad? What about working with a PT who is treating several other patients at the same time? My guess is that the answer to at least some of these questions is, “No.” With telehealth PT, you never have to commute, fight the weather, or share your therapist with other patients.

Telehealth physical therapy is a convenient, efficient, and cost-effective way to receive your PT. Research has even found that it also improved patient satisfaction!

How does it work?

After scheduling an appointment, you will receive an email with a link and a passcode (this is for security). At the time of your appointment, grab your laptop, tablet, or smartphone (with a working microphone and camera), click the link in your email, enter your passcode, and you’re in! You can do your PT anywhere! You’ll just want some room to move around and have good lighting.

Who does it work for?

Telehealth certainly has some limitations, but if you are someone suffering from aches and pains like Knee Arthritis, Low Back Pain, Neck Aches, you don’t like WASTING TIME driving to/from appointments, being bounced around from one clinician to another, and you have internet, this may be a great option for you!
